Comb`s have been used by people for 1000`s of years. They are a tool to straighten hair by use of teeth that pass through the hair which organizes the hair strands in the same direction.

They can be made from almost any rigid/semi rigid material that can be shaped or carved. For this reason comb`s made from ivory and tortoise shell were common in older times. Modern comb`s are made from plastic, wood and metal.

It is thought that one of the reason`s comb`s were invented is to remove hair lice although there is no proof if this is true unfortunately. Time tends to erase history.

There is proof however that comb`s have become part of fashion in many cultures being able to lock hair into many styles. This was and still is a common practise in India and China. Ornamental comb`s can be worth many 1000`s of pounds.
