Neptune is the 8th planet from the Sun in our Solar System. It is a gas giant like its closest neighbours. Methane in the atmosphere is the main culprit for the colour of the planet. Neptune is the 4th largest planet in our Solar System.

Diameter: 49538 kilometers
Mass: 17.14 of Earth
Orbit around sun: 60190 days
Surface Temperature: -201 degrees Centigrade
Moons: 11

The wind on Neptune is the strongest that is seen in our Solar System. Recorded speeds over 700mph are recorded regularly, and they are responsible for Neptunes own dark spot a little like the spot on Jupiter.

Neptune is the least visited planet by space probes sent from Earth and has currently only had a flyby from Voyager 2 in 1989.

Neptune is known to have at least 11 moons, the largest of which is Triton.
